Senior management

William Salomon Chairman, Senior Partner

William is the Senior Partner of Hansa Capital Partners, Deputy Chairman of Ocean Wilsons Holdings Limited and its listed subsidiary Wilson Sons Limited and a Director of Hansa Investment Company Limited. William has extensive knowledge of all aspects of private client and strategic fund investment business.

William was responsible for developing Finsbury Asset Management and the Finsbury range of funds based on the concept of early recognition of key investment trends, such as life sciences and technology, and appointing specialist managers until taken over in 1995 by Rea Brothers Group, the family’s bank of which he eventually became Chairman. In 1999 Rea Brothers Group was taken over by Close Brothers Group when William was appointed Deputy Chairman of the investment division. William has served on the board of a number of investment and trading companies.

Alec Letchfield Partner, Chief Investment Officer

Alec joined Hansa Capital Partners in September 2013 as Chief Investment Officer. He has over 20 years' experience in managing multi-asset class and equity portfolios for both private clients and institutional investors. After joining HSBC James Capel in 1993 he headed up the UK equity team, developing the successful Focus Fund range based on conviction investing. Following his appointment as Chief Investment Officer for HSBC Wealth, he was instrumental in the development of the multi-asset class offering for private clients for the HSBC Group. This highly diverse range of solutions generated excellent investment performance and industry leading asset growth. Alec is regularly quoted in the press and is a graduate of University College London, where he studied Economics, and is also a member of the Securities Institute.

Stephen Thomas Partner, Chief Financial and Compliance Officer

Steve joined Hansa Capital Partners in September 2013 as Chief Financial Officer and Compliance Officer. Prior to joining Hansa, Steve was the Group Finance Director for a private office specialising in real estate investment and fund management and prior to that Steve had been the Head of Commercial Finance for Land Securities Trillium (now Telereal Trillium). Steve graduated in 1997 from University College, Oxford with a Masters in Chemistry before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 with PriceWaterhouseCoopers where he specialised in European tax structuring.

Anthony Townsend Director

Anthony was Chairman of the Association of Investment Companies between 2001 and 2003 and a member of the Council of Lloyd’s between 2006 and 2008.
Anthony is chairman of British & American Investment Trust, F&C Global Smaller Companies, Finsbury Growth & Income Trust and Miton Worldwide Growth Investment Trust.

Chris Russell Director

Chris is a Guernsey resident Non-Executive Director of a number of investment and financial companies in the US, UK, Guernsey and Hong Kong. These include the UK Association of Investment Companies and companies listed on the New York and the London Stock Exchanges including F&C Commercial Property Trust Ltd of which he is Chairman. Chris is also an associate of the financial research boutique, GaveKal. Chris was formerly a Director of Gartmore Investment Management Plc, where he was Head of Gartmore’s businesses in the US and Japan, and before that was a holding board director of the Jardine Fleming Group in Asia.

Christopher Townsend Investment Director

Chris is currently Investment Director at Hansa Capital and a Non-Executive Director of Ocean Wilsons Holdings Limited. Chris is a qualified solicitor and has an MA from Peterhouse, Cambridge. Chris was awarded an MBA from London Business School. Chris previously worked as a principal in the investment team at Coller Capital Limited and Sum International Group in London and as a Solicitor at Ashurst Morris Crisp.

Wayne Bulpitt Managing Director

Wayne is Managing Director of the Hanseatic Group. Wayne was previously Head of Offshore Investment Services for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Global Private Banking & Trust division (1998-2001), Managing Director of CIBC Fund Managers (Guernsey) Limited (1992-1998).

William Scott Director (Non-Executive)

Bill is an independent Non-Executive Director of a number of investment companies and funds. After being Assistant Investment Manager with the London Residuary Body Superannuation Scheme, Bill joined Rea Brothers, a private banking group, in 1989. From 1997 Bill was the Director in charge of the group’s Guernsey-based offshore international investment management activities until 2002. Rea Brothers became part of the Close Brothers group in 1999 and during that period Bill was also a Director of Close Bank Guernsey Limited. From 2003 to 2004 Bill was Senior Vice President with FRM Investment Management Limited in Guernsey. Bill is a Chartered Accountant, holds the Securities Institute Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Investment team

William Lewis Research Analyst

Will joined Hansa Capital Partners in 2012, having previously worked for four years on the investment team at Lord North Street (now Sandaire), a London-based private investment office. Will graduated from the University of Oxford in 2007 with a degree in Engineering, Economics and Management, following which he spent a year working in Parliament and the Home Office. Will holds the Investment Management Certificate and is a CFA charterholder.

Robert Royle Investment Manager

Robert joined Hansa Capital Partners in 2016 to manage Global Equity portfolios. Prior to this he was a Partner at Smith & Williamson managing North American and Global equity mandates. He previously worked for Citi Quilter and Hill Samuel in similar roles. Robert graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2004 with a degree in History. Robert is a CFA charterholder.

George Clifton-Brown Research Analyst

George joined Hansa Capital Partners LLP in March 2018 having previously worked for three years at Capital Group, a Los Angeles-based asset manager, where he led their EMEA data management team. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2013 with a degree in Land Economy following which he spent a year working at Newton Investment Management. George is a CFA charterholder.

Henry Millhouse Research Assistant Analyst

Henry joined Hansa Capital Partners in 2022, having graduated from Newcastle University with a first-class degree in Economics and Finance. During university, Henry completed a 12-month placement with Kames Capital (now Aegon Asset Management), an Edinburgh based asset manager. Henry holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Operations & Administration

Stephen Kenley Senior Investment Operations Analyst

Stephen joined Hansa Capital Partners in July 2015 having previously worked for Dartmoor Capital Management, an investment adviser to a property fund. Prior to that Stephen spent 3 years at Canada Life Investments, having graduated from Loughborough University in 2009 with a degree in Accounting and Financial Management. During his degree course, he spent a year working as an intern at IBM.

Karam Singh Investment Operations Analyst

Karam joined Hansa Capital Partners in January 2023 joining from RBC, where he was a Finance Analyst. Prior to that he worked 3 years as an Analyst at City Fios, working with clients Mizuho, ICBC Standard and Uni Credit. Graduating in 2018 from the University of Greenwich with a degree in Economics with Banking and Finance.

Doug Mackay Company Secretary

Douglas joined the Hanseatic Group in 2008. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the offshore finance industry, principally in the areas of fund management and fund administration. He is an executive director of Aspida Management Services Limited, a leading offshore provider of support services to licensed investment businesses. Douglas has extensive experience in a broad range of fund types, together with expertise in the regulatory environment including London, Ireland and Channel Island stock exchange listing rules. He acts as a director of a number of investment management companies and investment funds and is a charter holder of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) association.

James Siddalls Investment Operations Manager

James joined Hansa Capital Partners in 2006. He has an extensive background in financial services and family office operations. James started his career in 1994 with S.G. Warburg and went on to work for other large financial institutions such as RBS Trust Bank and Bank of New York Europe before specialising in investment operations for family Offices.

Aishling Scott Investment Operations Officer

Aishling joined the Hanseatic Group in December 2023. She started her career at "PwC where she qualified as an accountant in their assurance department. She then went on to work in operations specialising in private equity at BC Partners and then venture capital at Hedosophia. Aishling graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Loughborough University and is also an ACCA chartered accountant.

Sophie Simmance Senior Family Office Executive

Sophie joined Hansa Capital Partners in 2020. She started her career in Student Support at Imperial College London, Southern Cross University and Queensland University of Technology in Australia. Sophie then worked as a Personal Assistant at a Real Estate Investment Advisor from its inception, and now has over 10 years’ experience working for family offices both as an Executive Assistant and more recently as an Estate Manager to UHNW families.

Lucy Read Executive Assistant

Lucy joined Hansa Capital Partners in April 2022. She has over 5 years’ experience working in both the public and private sector as an Executive Assistant. Lucy previously worked for the Finance for Biodiversity Initiative which focused on involving nature in financial decision-making. She holds a degree in Geography and a Masters in Conservation Science from Imperial College London.

Rebecca Price Office Administrator / Team Assistant

Rebecca joined Hansa Capital Partners in January 2023 . Prior to joining Hansa, she had a career in hospitality, notably as Senior Chef de Partie at Paradise Soho. Rebecca also gained experience in various Administrative Assistant roles, primarily in the hospitality sector, and is a qualified EFL teacher, having completed the Cambridge CELTA. She holds a first class degree in Culinary Arts Management from the University of West London.
